Needs

  • Considering the large product base – approx. 2 million products – it was necessary to implement a system that would enable simple and efficient management of product data;
  • The delivered solutions made it possible to apply own product descriptions and product classification system (ETIM) in a single form, thereby ensuring consistency of product data;
  • Enabling assignment of products to different classes of categories – internal classification and ETIM classification;
  • The application enables integration with external systems, at the same time allowing for it to be developed with a view towards downloading data from the ERP system and making data available to multiple sales channels (B2B, B2C).

Implementation of Product Information Management (PIM)

The business need that Kaczmarek Electric brought to us was collection of product information across systems and databases, so that it could apply consistent, standardized content and product attributes. To meet their needs, we created a Product Information Management system based on PimCore technology.

Implementation of PIM (Product Information Management) for Kaczmarek Electric S.A. required thorough analysis and close cooperation with the client in the process of developing the data model because of the complexity and multiple sources of product information. The target data model was developed in the course of workshops.

The sheer number of products in the manufacturer’s portfolio was also a challenge, but the solutions introduced in the design architecture ensure that the application provides maximum efficiency. The use of extended classification and ETIM attributes, taking into account the possibility of adding new attributes, made it possible to apply different classes of categories to products.

The project was conducting following agile methodology in order to provide a solution tailored to the customer’s needs. The agile approach to implementation allowed the client to verify the original assumptions from iteration to iteration, thus allowing changes to be made in the data model. The result was a solution meeting the client’s precise needs.

Outcomes

  • A complete data model was developed that took into account all customer needs and diverse data sources;
  • Creation of a structure for the ETIM product classification system enabling storage, grouping and creation of attributes;
  • Standardization of product data and the capacity to distribute them to partners and contractors in multiple formats;
  • Standardization of product data and the capacity to distribute them to partners and contractors in multiple formats;
  • Capacity for efficient management of imported product data;
  • Optimization of object trees in the PimCore panel with large numbers of products;
  • Service of over 2 million indexes.
